A longer bit about me:

I have been interested in visual facilitation way before I even heard the term. I got into Mind Mapping in the late nineties, going so far as traveling to London, England, to compete in the Mind Mapping Competition at the 1999 Mind Sports Olympiad. I won the silver medal.

I over the years I have done visual facilitating to solve a wide variety of problems for clients, for example:

1) Aided an MD in his presentation to the Centers for Disease Control about bioterrorism detection
2) Assisted a CEO clarify the next steps for his company
3) Helped a successful young professional plan a career change

Some more history:

  • I just wrapped production on Jonny’s Par-tay, a live interactive web video talk show where we interviewed movers and shakers in the social media world.
  • I have a Masters Degree from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU where I learned about using communications technology in socially interesting ways.
  • I am currently a video producer, making marketing, fundraising, and feature content videos for business and nonprofit clients.
  • I studied drawing and graphic arts at the Art Students League and the School of Visual Arts in New York City with some amazing teachers
  • I created a critically acclaimed comic book in the mid 90’s
  • I designed and ran an innovative after school program in the Bronx where we taught over 100 teens how to videoblog
  • I have been blogging at since 2004 about art, technology, and business jonnygoldstein.com.
  • I recently won the DC City Paper’s haiku contest
  • I love helping people solve problems
  • My Mother is an Anthropologist, my father is an Economist, and my brother is a Demographer. This sounds like a good setup for a joke, but actually it’s the punchline.
  • I recently moved to Philadelphia after a couple of years in DC and 10 years in New York City. All great cities with their own personalities. I am a big fan of cities.
  • I grew up in mostly in Eugene, Oregon, with stints in England and Papua New Guinea with my travel-loving family. I lived in Israel for a few years as a young adult.
  • I speak English, Spanish, Hebrew (OK it’s rusty), and New Guinea Pidgin (even rustier). And I know how to say “Beer please” in Czech, “I’m full” in Cantonese, and “Peace be with you” in Arabic.
